About the event
Join me for a fun morning exploring going upside down with headstand (Sirsasana, also called the king of asana!) & forearm balance (Pincha Mayurasana). Inversions like these are great for building shoulder and upper body strength & flexibility, but also to prepare the body & mind for more demanding inversions.
In the lead up to the inversions, we will break down the elements that are necessary to come into and to refine the headstand and forearm stand. While there are some technically difficult aspects of these poses, a lot of the challenge often lies in finding comfort in being upside down.Â
The workshop will start with a flow to warm up, with focus on shoulder strenghtening and opening as well as waking up our core. We will pay extra attention to also preparing the mind and nervous system so that we can more easily become comfortably oriented while being upside down.Â
We will use props to assist our progress, and students will be paired up to support & help each other during the workshop.Â
This workshop is open to both those who have never done an inversion and want to give it a go, and those wanting to refine their existing headstand & forearm practice and try different variations.
While most suitable for students with some physical ability, this workshop welcomes anyone who is interested in exploring tools to develop their inversion practice. This workshop is not suitable for anyone who is pregnant, or has a neck or shoulder injury.Â
