About the event

- By popular demand the essential Chaturanga workhop is returning  -

Ever wondered why you should press your elbows in towards your ribs or how you can modify Chaturanga for maximum effect while staying within your own physical limits?

While not only being one of the most requested workshops, poor stability and confusion around Chaturanga [four-limbed staff pose] and sun salutations is something I notice amongst students in every class. Chaturanga and its alternatives are postures we visit often in a drop-in class but never spend a lot of time in. In a flow based class we can move through up to 10-20 sun salutations – so better make it a stable and steady routine.

As a drop-in yoga student these techniques and movements can take years to learn and feel confident in - this workshop is your chance to progress to create a long-lasting and supportive yoga practice.

This workshop will break down the different poses that create sun salutation A, B and C with extra emphasis on Chaturanga, and also exploring alternatives and modifications to this powerful but challenging posture. The aim of the workshop is to go deeper into the anatomical aspects of practicing Chaturanga and students will leave feeling more confident to choose the most appropriate alternative of Vinyasa and Chaturanga in their own practice and in future yoga classes.

The workshop is open to all levels of yoga practicioner (both gentle and intermediate students) with some physical ability required. If you have never attended a similar worksop on this topic or studied Chaturanga with a bit more depth but practice Vinyasa yoga regularly - then I  highly recommend joining on September 16th.

During the workshop, the firey and heating elements of sun saltuations will be balanced by cooling, calming counter poses and the physical practice will be interwoven with theory and rest. The workshop will begin with a preparatory intro flow and end with a sweet relaxation.
